Top 10 Points for a Good Day Off…

Day Off Must Haves:

1) Beethoven - Classical piano concerto No. 5, E-flat major, Op 73

2) SKINS.
full length (sorry suntan!) topped (or bottomed) with a big pair of Animal socks!

3) A Puss Cat.
If you are lacking a cat, use next doors, or visit the pet shop and hang out there.

4) A good Paper Back Book, or Audio Book.
I recommend Harry Potter read by Stephen Fry.

5) Protein Shake
Preferably Vanilla flavour, then mix with a cup of fresh brewed coffee.

6) A crisp notebook and smooth pen.
Here I’d recommend coloured pages…keeps the mind alive.

7) A nice square, suede covered cushion.
If unavailable, use suitable, favored material. (I would HIGHLY suggest you not use your bedtime pillow)

8 ) A couple of effervescent Vitamin C tablets to lick, very amusing.

9) High Heels.
To waltz around in, making you feel fantastic and alarmingly brilliant. Male or Female.

10) At least one ‘Good’ arm:
So as to be able to lift your legs or other arm around when you need to stand up or move around. Gym induced quadruple limb soreness is not fun.

HAPPY DAY OFF!!

Please Note: these are only suggestions to help make your day off run more smoothly.

Be aware that the 10 points do not take into account the need for feeding times, specifically breakfast, lunch and tea. (not to mention snacks and treats)
If feeding times are missed, you may find yourself becoming grumpy and disillusioned with life.

If this happens, may i suggest a quick RedBull Energy Shot to get you back on track as you drive to the sushi place.

Please also note that the wearing of SKINS recovery garments alongside high heels, whilst making you feel brilliant, may cause others to crash into things for laughing at you.

I take no responsibility if you become addicted to the Harry Potter read by Stephen Fry audio books.

Please consider that the licking of the effervescent Vitamin C tablets is not recommended for everyone and takes a certain amount of control.

Finally, feel free to add in your own Top 10 Points for a Good Day Off. Mine change regularly to allow a fresh mindset to ensue. Yours should too. Variety is the spice of life.

  1. David says:

Hi Rachel! When i finished reading your post i felt the “urge” to write a comment with my response… Sorry for the mess it may create =).

    David’s Day Off Must Haves:

    1) A ride in my bike.
Even if i cannot hit the trails, i must have at least a 45 minutes ride on the streets. It helps my mind ease and keeps me sane and in control =)

    2) Making music.
It’s so fun to just sit and plug my lady and make music, any kind of it. Improvising along the good ol’ 12 blues bars is chilling and put me on a very very satisfying relaxation =)

    3) Taking a shower.
Haha! It’s not because i may stink, but because i love water. The feel of a nice cool (not freezing) shower is just great.

    4) Laugh laugh laugh!.
I love laughing, haha i’m pretty easy to amuse, so this one will never ever be out of my day, i think.

    5) Protein Shake (too)
Vanilla flavour, and a toss of smashed pecans!

    6) Daydream.
Well, this actually happens every 5 minutes. It used to be a pain sometimes, not being able to concentrate and let myself go to other places, hehe. But, now, it’s kinda relieving when i’m very stressed out or simply bored. =)

    7) Grass fields.
It’s just so nice when i go out and lie down on the grass, stare at the clouds and let my mind go away! There’s a very very calm place where once you finish descending the singletrack, you fin yourself at the side of a river. few meters ahead there’s a very nice spot where i can lie down on the grass, listen to the water and watch the clouds =3

    8 ) Coconut scent.
I just love the coconut scent, so at home there are coconut scented candles i like to light up once in a while.

    9) Beer.
Having a beer is just good, helps to build up the atmosphere of a real day off.

    10) Swim.
So refreshing, it makes me tired but not fatigued.

    Well, that’s pretty much it,
    Cheers from Mexico =3

P.S. Can’t wait to see you guys at the Worldcups!!

  2. Looks like I’m going to have to read up some more but this was a really good spring board.
